NAVWC donates $1,500 to Crisis Services

Every year the NAVWC hosts a charity car show called “Bug’n in July.” And every year, we take the proceeds from each show and make a donation to our sponsored charity, Crisis Services of North Alabama. This year we may have been a little behind, but yesterday club members Dolphe, Daryl, and Todd went to Crisis Services to hand over a “little” check.

The NAVWC would like to thank everyone that came out to support our 2013 Bug’n in July show. We’d also like to thank the sponsors that donated time, money, or door prizes. Bug’n in July couldn’t have happened without y’all!

SSG Christopher Walker benefit – Aug. 25

During Bug’n in July this weekend, we were approached by someone putting on a benefit next month for a local resident, Christopher Walker, and I promised we would share this information. ¬†On April 24th, an IED explosion in Afghanistan left SSG Chritopher Walker critically injured and fighting for his life. Doctors had to amputate his arms and one of his legs above the knee.

Christopher is now at Walter Reed Medical Center where his family reports he his making significant strides in his therapy. By staying strong, keeping a positive attitude and success in his therapy, his is working toward his release – into a home of his own. This will take a major remodeling to accomodate his limitations.

The benefit will be held on August 25th, 2012 at the VFW Post, 2309 Veterans Dr. Decatur, AL. There will be a yard sale starting at 7am, a fish fry and grill food at noon, followed by a bake sale, silent auction, and raffle starting at 2pm. There will be games and activities for everyone.

For more details on the benefit or Chris’ progress, visit his Facebook page.
